When Blessing was a child, her mother always brought her home to the vast family of Okwaraihekuna Kingdom. Blessing was the second of her 5 children and one of the favorite granddaughters of the Umunoha community.  She has grown to feel a special connection to the village as it quickly became her second home. Blessing finds comfort, in giving back love and gratitude to the entire community for the warmth, love and care they embedded in her all the times she visited her maternal home while growing up. It was during one of those visits, as a young adult, that she was introduced to Mercy, the founder of Lady Mitz Foundation (LMF), who is a one of daughters of this wonderful community.

In 2005, Blessing had returned home, after completing her National Youth Service Corp, in Nigeria, where she worked in a community directed intervention (CDI) HIV/AIDS Project: and as a CDI Trainee for HIV/AIDS prevention, education and awareness to secondary school children.  It was no surprise that she was excited to team up with Lady Mitz Foundation; upon her return, and learning about the vision and mission of this new initiative.  LMF was focused on education, awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS, to help combat the deadly epidemic on the rise in Nigeria, which was killing people around the world. LMF started the youth movement project in Umunoha, where they train the youths to go to the high schools and teach fellow youth how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS. Blessing came highly recommended, prepared, hired as a trainer and fit right in like “a piece of a pie”; and worked part time. She trained the youths to say no to drugs, no to unprotected sex, no to unwanted pregnancy, and encouraged abstinence to stopping the spread and saving lives.  As one who was trained, she excelled in this job and was able to produce a brochure to further help educate adolescents. What makes Lady Mitz Foundation and Dr. Blessing, a perfect match, is that Blessing who had just been accepted into her graduate program, now had the time and funding to complete her Master’s degree, while the new nonprofit needed her expertise.  Through her experience with LMF, she was able to realize that the need to help others has become a passion of hers. She began creating outreach programs in churches with volunteers, and has since bagged her doctorate degree in 2014. She is also married with three wonderful kids. Today, Dr. Blessing is a Hydro Biologist and Fisheries expert, who lectures at a Federal Polytechnic Ekowe in Nigeria, and also, a board Member of Lady Mercy Mitz Foundation, which is the name our Organization is registered in Nigeria as an NGO.  We are very proud of who this young Lady has become, as her passion to help others has evolved in different spectrum.  Kudos to Dr. Blessing.
